Iranian websites are being attacked 14,000 times on a daily basis, Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Reza Taqipour said, ISNA reported.
Taghipour said that most of the attacks are being carried out with spyware programs.
"Government alone is not able to handle and control all the attacks online. It is necessary for the public to help establishing moral and social security online," Taghipour said.
Speaking of the internet affecting and damaging families, Taghipour said that it happens everywhere, in Western societies as well.
"Since not all of the sensitive information can be placed online, we are working on creating the national grid that would function inside Iran,"Taghipour said. "It will become completely functional within the country's fifth development plan."
Iran has been working on establishing the national grid for some time already. The plan was to separate the internet, and the local networks, to make sure the possible attackers would have an extra shield before them. Iranian experts have claimed that once the national grid would be established and will function in full, it would improve country's overall internet security.
In September, Taghipour said that all Iranian provinces will have access to both general internet, and the secure national network, come October.
On Aug. 26, Taghipour said Iran plans to launch a number of indigenous internet search engines by the next few months in a bid to facilitate web searching for Iranian users.
He also said that Iran would be unplugging key government agencies from the Internet in order to avoid possible future cyber attacks.
In July, Deputy Chief of Staff in Mobilization Force and Defense Culture Affairs Brigadier Seyyed Mas'oud Jazayeri said Iranian armed forces will establish cyber defense headquarters for online protection and monitoring possible threats.
