Head of Iran's Red Crescent Society Abolhassan Faqih voiced IRCS's preparedness to help Senegal in rescue and relief operations, Fars News reported.

Faqih made the remarks in a meeting with the Head of Senegal's Red Cross Abdel-Aziz Diyalu in Tehran on Sunday.

"We are sufficiently prepared in areas of treatment issues, health training and upgrading relief and rescue operations" to launch cooperation with Senegal's RC "and we can sign a memorandum of understanding after studying the existing grounds for cooperation," Faqih said.

Diyalu and his accompanying delegation arrived in Tehran earlier today to closely see the Iranian Red Crescent Society's capabilities. The visit to Iran by the Senegalese delegation will last for two days.

Iran has sought hard in the last few years to boost ties and cooperation with both Africa and Latin America and has established a strong foothold in the markets of the countries in both continents.

Tehran has prioritized promotion of its economic and political ties with the African and Latin American states and the country is now considered as one of the African Union's strategic partners.
