Iranian presidential candidate Mohammad Reza Aref said that he has no intention of stepping aside in favor of Hassan Rohani and that he will stay in the race until the end, the Mehr News Agency reported.

It is while just like their principlist rivals, reformists are trying to throw their weight behind a single candidate and pick a frontrunner for the upcoming presidential election.

Aref went on to note that he lost 11 days of campaigning just because of former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani's registration in the presidential race.

When Rafsanjani's registered for the election, I stopped my campaign but when he was disqualified I resumed my work, Aref explained.

He also said that the country cannot rely on foreign direct investment to create one million jobs a year, arguing that his top priority will be to develop the Information and Communications Technology sector, because it has the potential to create new jobs.

According to the reformist candidate, the next administration will need to boost production by throwing its support behind the private sector.

Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14, 2013.

The voters will select the successor of the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the elections for the third term according to the country's constitutional laws.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election. The Guardian Council has vetted the candidates for qualifications.
