The passport of Iranian Oscar winner filmmaker Asghar Farhadi was confiscated as soon as he arrived at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport on July 9, Radio Farda (Persian department of LR/RFE) reported.
According to the report, the passport has been turned back to him, but in the coming days Farhadi will have to go to one of the offices of Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and National Security to give some explanations.
Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi won the 2012 Oscar for best foreign film for his movie "A Separation" - the first such prize for Iran.
The Oscar winner was officially welcomed in Tehran, but many Iranian hard-liners were also upset that the movie exposed the troubles in Iranian society through the story of a collapsing marriage.
Farhadi was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the world by Time magazine in 2012.
