Iraq is not ready yet to import natural gas from Iran, the Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Exports Company (NIGEC) Hossein Bidarmaqz said on Wednesday.

"Iraq has not yet completed the pipeline, therefore Iran can not start exporting gas to Baghdad on the previously announced date," the ISNA News Agency quoted Bidarmaqz as saying.

He stressed that Iran is completely ready to start gas exports on the agreed time.

Based on the signed contract, Iran is supposed to start exporting 25 million cubic meters of gas per day to Iraq by the end of summer.

Iraq will use the gas to feed its power plants.
