Exports from Iran’s Arvand Free Zone to Iraq up 90 per cent

Some $111 million worth of goods have been exported from Iran's Arvand Free Zone, in the southwest of the country to Iraq in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21, showing a 90 per cent rise year in a year, IRIB reported.

Some $111 million worth of goods have been exported from Iran's Arvand Free Zone, in the southwest of the country to Iraq in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21, showing a 90 per cent rise year in a year, IRIB reported. Exports amounted to 220 million tons in weight.

Cement, bricks, tiles, ceramics, tomato paste, vegetable oil, industrial faucets and cars were the main goods exported.

The trade turnover between Iran and Iraq surpassed $6.35 billion in the previous Iranian calendar year which ended on March 20.

Tehran's exports to Baghdad accounted for 98 per cent of the aforementioned amount, IRNA news agency reported.

Iraq also exported goods worth of $83 million to Iran. Baghdad was Tehran's third largest trading partner in the same period.

Iran's technical and engineering service exports to Iraq reached $3 billion in the previous year.

The two countries trade volume stood at $9.7 billion two years ago.
