Defending the Syrian regime should not threaten Iran's interests, Member of Iranian parliament's Budget commission Mousa al-Reza Sarvati said, Iranian Bahar newspaper reported.
Any country has to protect its national interests, he said, adding that defending Syria should not impose irremediable damages to Iran.
Sarvati went on to note that Syrian regime is a serious supporter of Iran's revolution and cooperated with Iran during Iran-Iraq war.
Possible intervention in Syria would affect Iran in various issues including diplomatic and economic issues, he said, adding that "so we should review how common is our relations with Syria and how far we should continue the support."
The issue should be reviewed by Supreme National Security Council, Expediency Discernment Council and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, he remarked.
Regarding the media outlets' information about visit of an Iranian parliamentary delegation to Syria he said that "this visit will depend on the internal situation in Syria and has not yet determined."
Iran is close ally of Syrian government and shows its support for the regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad in any opportunity.
Some Western and regional countries supported intervention to Syria, after another escalation of situation in the country. On August 21 Media outlets informed about the large-scale use of chemical weapons near Damascus by the Syrian Government Troops.
According to the preliminary data, over 600 people became the victims of the attack.
National Coalition of Syrian Opposition claims that the number of victims could reach 1,300 people. After the incident the parties of the conflict repeatedly declared about their innocence, and accused the opponents.
Earlier the US president declared that the use of chemical weapon will be a "red line" for Bashar Assad regime.
