Iran, Switzerland stress diplomatic solutions to regional crisis

Tehran and Bern on Tuesday stressed the need for bolstering peaceful and diplomatic efforts to end the crisis in the region, including the ongoing bloodshed in crisis-hit Syria, Fars news reported.

The latest regional developments were discussed in a meeting between Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian and the senior Swiss delegation headed by Director-General of Swiss Foreign Ministry for the Middle-East Affairs Wolfgang Amadeus Brulhart.

The two sides stressed the significance of using diplomacy as a proper way to bring about regional peace and security.

The Swiss diplomats also met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and American Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi and Director-General of Iranian Foreign Ministry for West Europe Affairs Abolqasem Delfi on Sunday.

In the meetings, the two sides voiced readiness to broaden bilateral relations and promised to make use of existing opportunities to boost political, economic, cultural and parliamentary relations between the two nations on the bases of mutual respect.

They also discussed regional developments and underlined the need to restore peace and security to the region through diplomacy.
