On average, Iran distributed 260 million litres of oil products (gasoline, kerosene, gas oil, fuel oil, LPG) per day throughout the country in the previous calendar year, ended March 20, deputy head of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said on Tuesday.

"NIOPDC accounted for 40 per cent of the country's total fuel distribution in the previous year," the IRIB News Agency quoted Seyyed Naser Sajjadi as saying.

"The country's national gas network has developed compared to the previous year, but NIOPDC is still preparing for distributing enough oil products for the cold days of autumn and winter," he said, predicting that this year the average figure will surpass 260 million litres per day.

He went on to note that if the Gasoline Rationing Plan had not been implemented in 2007, the country's gasoline consumption would now surpass 132 million litres per day.

NIOPDC is the largest affiliated company of the National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company.
