The US should use the historic opportunity of Iran's diplomacy, head of Iran's armed forces headquarters, Hassan Firouzabadi said, ISNA reported.

Iran's positive and constructive diplomacy has created opportunities for the US, and it should use this, Firouzabadi said, talking about the possible improvement in Iran-US relations.

He went on to add that traditional basis of the US in the region is collapsing, and Iran's diplomacy is a chance to stop it.

"Iran's diplomacy can solve many problems, and prevent new crisises from happening. The US should use this opportunity to open gates to peace in the world," Firouzabadi said.

It should be noted that since Hassan Rouhani became Iran's new president, the administration of the Islamic Republic has undertaken certain steps with accordance to its new foreign policy.

As a result of such, Hassan Rouhani made a speech at the UN General Assembly meeting, which was positively assessed, and then even held phone talks with the US president Barack Obama.

Iran is currently in the middle of holding new round of talks regarding its nuclear program with the P5+1 group. The first round of the talks on Oct. 16, was highly assessed by both sides.

Early in October, Iranian media outlets quoted Rouhani as saying that "...influence of the talks between Iran and the US has been so positive that a committee for friendship with Iran is going to be launched in the US Congress".

Some forces in Iran were negative towards Hassan Rouhani's approach to talks with the U.S. president and its stance on country's nuclear program.

For example, commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari called Rouhani`s phone conversation with his US counterpart, a tactical mistake.

On October 5, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said that, Iran doesn't trust the United States, which doesn't keep its promises, "yet we have faith in our own diplomats".
