By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran's Karoun-4 dam, which is the country's tallest arch dam, has been damaged and likely cracked, ISNA quoted an unnamed official at Iran's Energy Ministry as saying on Saturday.
Iranian media have quoted "informed sources" as saying that the Karoun-4 dam, located in southwestern Khuzestan province, has been cracked.
However, other national and provincial officials have decline to further comment.
The dam is 230 meters tall. Its basin has the capacity to hold 2.3 billion cubic meters of water.
