By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran's urban inflation rate hit 30.2 per cent in the 12-month period ending on April 20.
The Statistical Center of Iran reported that the inflation rate in Iranian urban areas hit 30.2 percent in the 12-month period ending the first Iranian calendar month (March 21-April 20), Iran's IRNA news agency reported on April 28.
The figure fell 1.9 per cent compared to the last calendar month of the past year.
On March 31, the Statistical Center of Iran reported that the country's point-to-point inflation in the last month of the previous year was decreased by 2.4 percent compared to its preceding month.
The country's urban inflation rate also faced a 1.6-percent decrease in the mentioned month in comparison to its preceding month.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on March 29 that the country's inflation rate is projected to drop to 25 percent by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2015), Iran's Arsh news website reported.
"Improving relations with foreign countries may even cause the figure to fall below 25 percent," he explained.
In November 2013, Rouhani said for the first time that his government plans to decrease the inflation rate to below 25 percent by the end of the current Iranian calendar year 1393 (March 20, 2015).
