Iran will host the Economic Cooperation Organization’s (ECO) first ever health tourism conference which is scheduled to be held on August 18-20 in Ramsar, in the country’s northern province of Mazandaran.

Iran will host the Economic Cooperation Organization's (ECO) first ever health tourism conference which is scheduled to be held on August 18-20 in Ramsar, in the country's northern province of Mazandaran.

Rabi Fallah, the Governor of the Mazandaran province said that up to 70 foreign experts from ECO member countries will attend the conference, Iran's ISNA news agency reported on August 2.

Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan are the members of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Fallah went on to add that the capacities of the Mazandaran province in the fields of health and tourism will be introduced to the ECO countries during the conference.

The governor said that a specialized exhibition, comprised of 72 booths allocated to the medical equipments, healthcare services, tourism and medical tourism will be held on the sidelines of the conference in Ramsar.

The opening ceremony of an ultra specialist hospital in Amol city and visiting a hospital in Chalus city are in the schedule of the conference, he added.

Medical tourism or health tourism is the travel of people to another country for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment in that country.
