By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Over 1.84 billion liters of Euro-4 gasoline have been consumed in Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21).

National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company official Hossein Aghayan said 13.43 million liters of Euro-4 gasoline were consumed on average per day, Iran's Shana news agency reported on August 6.

In the first four months of the year, Euro-4 gasoline consumption hit 356.5 million liters, 421.6 million liters, 440.2 million liters, and 446.4 million liters, respectively, he added.

Also, 927 million liters of Euro-4 gas oil were consumed in the four-month period.

In the first four months of the year, Euro-4 gas oil consumption hit 124 million liters, 102.3 million liters, 251.1 million liters, and 235.6 million liters, respectively.

Abbas Kazemi, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister, said on June 14 that Euro-4 gasoline production capacity will be increased by 20 million liters in the current year.

The Iranian calendar year starts on March 20.

At present, 16 million liters of Euro-4 gasoline is produced, he said, adding that Euro-4 gasoline is currently distributed in Tehran, Karaj, and Arak cities.

On May 18, Kazemi said Iran will export 10 billion liters of fuel oil and diesel in the current year.

Importing gasoline is economically justified, Iran's Mehr news agency reported.

Under the international sanctions, three petrochemical units produced gasoline, he said, adding that the domestically produced gasoline was mixed with octane boosters and was supplied to the market. But, there is no longer need to produce such gasoline.
