Tehran has cancelled entry visas to Iraqis for two months, starting from October 24, Trend reports with reference to a statement of Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq published on the embassy website.

In order to expand and strengthen the relations between the two friendly nations in the response to the cancellation of visas for Iranian in the months of Muharram and Safar (from September 1 to October 30), Iran decides to cancel the entry visas to Iraqis for two months, said the statement.

The Iranian Embassy in Baghdad also expressed hope that these measures would further expand and strengthen relations between the governments and people of the two countries and pave the way for the permanent cancellation of visas between the two countries.

Iraq has removed visa requirements for Iranian pilgrims going to Iraq based on an agreement signed by the two sides in Tehran in July.
