Iran's Narmab dam requires more financing to complete - Water Company of Golestan Province

In order to complete the remaining parts of Narmab dam in Minodasht City of Golestan Province $380 million credit is needed, said the Managing Director of Regional Water Company of Golestan Province, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Sections that need to be completed are the construction of diversion dams, land ownership, replacement of villages, hydro-mechanical establishment, debt payment, installation of tunnels, monitoring, and access to the road, Mohsen Hosseini indicated.

The official noted that a total of $35 million is needed to continue the construction, the dam is one of the most important resources to supply drinking water and water for industry and agriculture in Golestan Province.

"By completing Narmab dam in Minodasht city, drinking water would be supplied for one-fourth of Golestan population which is equal to 40 million cubic meters while it also supplies the water needed in agriculture and industrial sector," he said.

The construction of the Narmab dam started in 2011 on the Narmab, Chelchai, and Khormalo Minodasht rivers by primary credit of $95 million, Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarter 85 percent of the project and government share was 15 percent. The project was expected to launch in 2016 but it was incomplete due to lack of financing.
