BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 11. Iran has several plans to increase the production of red meat, the representative of Iran's agriculture ministry Ebrahim Hassan Nejad said, Trend reports.
According to him, the promotion policy is being implemented to increase red meat production in the country. To this end, 1 million tons of mixed fodder was handed over to livestock breeders for constant feeding of animals last winter season.
Furthermore, Hassan Nejad noted that working capital is planned to be increased in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025) to increase red meat production in the country.
Hassan Nejad stated that Iran aims to be fully self-sufficient in red meat production in the coming years. He added that the country's red meat production potential is 900,000 tons per year.
To note, Iran currently imports an average of 100,000 tons of red meat per year.
