BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 10. Iran's National Mining Company drilled and modernized 20 oil wells during 2 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), the representative of the National Mining Company of Iran Babak Zangeneh said, Trend reports.
According to him, the National Mining Company has improved by drilling four development wells and 16 workover wells within two months. The excavation meterage totaled 19,569 meters.
He added that the National Mining Company of Iran drilled and upgraded 124 oil and gas wells in the country last year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
The number of wells drilled and upgraded in the country last year increased by 25 units compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
According to Zangeneh, of the wells drilled last year, 107 were workover wells, 14 were project wells, and 3 were exploration wells.
The official said that last year, 95 wells were drilled at the National Company of Southern Petroleum Zones, 7 at the Central Petroleum Zones Company, 10 at the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, 2 at the Offshore Oil Company, and 4 at the Pars Oil and Gas Company. Besides, 3 exploration wells were drilled and improved by order of the National Oil Company, and 3 wells were drilled and improved by order of the Ministry of Energy. The total meterage of the drilled wells amounted to 85,268 meters.
To note, a total of 74 oil fields and 22 gas fields are currently in operation in Iran. There are 37 fields in the territory of the National Company of Southern Oil Zones of Iran, 14 fields in the territory of the Company of Central Oil Zones of Iran, 5 fields in the territory of Arvand Oil and Gas Production Company, and 18 fields in the territory of Offshore Oil Company. There are also 5 gas fields in the territory of the National Company of Iran's Southern Oil Zones, 13 in the territory of the Central Oil Zones Company, 1 in the territory of Pars Oil and Gas Company, and 3 in the territory of the Offshore Oil Company.
Iran has total hydrocarbon reserves of 1.2 trillion barrels. Iran can produce 340 billion barrels of this gas with existing technological equipment. Iran can use about 30 percent, while 70 percent remains unused underground.
