(IRNA) - Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Friday the world today is in dire need of peace, tranquility and sustainable security.
Commenting on a question asked by New York Times reporter about Iran's conditions to drop programs for producing nuclear weapons, President Ahmadinejad said "we are not seeking nuclear weapons." He referred to Hiroshima event, saying no problem will exist if some review their behavior, reports Trend.
Asked about Washington's insistence in the suspension of uranium enrichment in Iran, President Ahmadinejad said countries are free to express their interest.
"However, the problem is raised when they want to impose their ideas to others," he noted.
President Ahmadinejad said Iran is examining the package of proposals offered by the 5+1 Group.
Asked about possible sanctions, he said power-holders should not abuse sanctions for threatening others.
"I think we should delete the word sanction from the political lexicon," he said.
