(RIA Novosti) - A Ukrainian transport ship loaded with NATO equipment for a military exercise Thursday left the port of Feodosia in Ukraine's Crimea region, a senior Ukrainian naval officer said.

A U.S. cargo ship, Advantage, called at the Black Sea port of Feodosia on May 27 ahead of a NATO exercise, Sea Breeze 2006, and unloaded military equipment for the exercise, sparking mass protests in the largely Russian-speaking area, reports Trend.

"The cargo, which was delivered on May 27 to Feodosia by the U.S. vessel, was fully loaded on board the vessel, and nothing was left at the port," Volodymyr Bova, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, told Ukrainian television channel Era.

The Anatoly Kolesnichenko will deliver the U.S. equipment to the Italian port of Livorno.
