Presidents of Tajikistan, Iran, Afghanistan to meet in Dushanbe

(Kazakhstan today) - Co-operation in combating modern threats and challenges will be discussed in Dushanbe by the leaders of Tajikistan, Iran, Afghanistan, press service of the Tajik MFA reports.

According to Kazakhstan Today correspondent in Dushanbe, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President of Iran, will arrive in Dushanbe this afternoon.

Tonight the leaders of Iran and Tajikistan will hold and open and closed bilateral talks. At the talks they will discuss construction of a power transmission line from Tajikistan through Afghanistan and Iran; transport communications; Sangtudin hydropower station No.2, etc. The MFA press service does not rule out that the heads of state will exchange their views on the Middle East situation, reports Trend.

The talks will result in inking a number of bilateral documents.

The Afghan leader Hamid Karzai is expected to arrive Wednesday, July 26.

On the same day Emomali Rakhmonov, President of Tajikistan, and his two guests will carry out open and closed trilateral meetings.

The agenda of these talks includes co-operation between these three countries in economy, science, and culture, as well as combating modern challenges and threats. The sides will also exchange their views on a number of global problems concerning the world community.

The parties are expected to sign a document as a result of the trilateral talks.
