On the sidelines of an Iftar banquet on Wednesday evening with Islamic countries ambassadors to Tehran, Mottaki stressed Islamic Republic of Iran will never ignore its legitimate rights.

Responding to a question about the new statement of the European Union (EU), Iran's FM said, "Comparing Iran's peaceful nuclear activity with any kind of nuclear test in the other part of the world would weaken the basis of the Western countries reasoning." Mottaki added, "Our activity is peaceful and lawful and has origins in our membership in the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)." He said Iran's stance in the negotiations has been transparent adding he hoped that the European countries take decisions based on realities.
