(IRNA) - Iran and Syria on Thursday called on the international community, the UN Security Council especially, to take prompt and strong actions to check the Zionist regime's brutal attacks on Palestinian civilians.
Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Moalem in a phone conversation also expressed great concern and deep sorrow over plight in Gaza and Beit Hanoun, reports Trend.
Mottaki regretted the world community's indifference towards the pressures piled up against the Palestinians, while describing such "dastardly" moves of the Zionists as a sign of weakness and failure of the regime's occupying policies.
He demanded adoption of speedy measures by Iran and Syria as well as all Muslim states to counter the Zionists' crimes.
He went on to say that to cover up its humiliating defeat and to regain its lost prestige in Lebanon, Israel is launching such attacks on the oppressed and helpless Palestinian women and children.
Al-Moalem too highlighted significance of continued contacts in connection with recent regional developments, saying the Zionist regime is internationally accountable for its provocative measures to stabilize the region.
He urged related global organizations and communities to take serious actions to control the conditions.
