Iran, Daghestan keen to expand ties

(IRNA) - Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Gholam-Reza Ansari in a meeting with the president and prime minister of the Autonomous Republic of Daghestan on Thursday said that bilateral relations are deeply rooted.

During the meeting held at the capital of Daghestan, Makhachkala, the Iranian diplomat said that during his visit he aims to seek ways of expanding cooperation between Iran and this autonomous republic, reports Trend.

Declaring Iran's readiness for cooperation with Daghestan, he urged the need for joint investment, adding that such investments will contribute to economic boom of both sides.

At the meeting, President Mukhu Aliyev and Prime Minister Shamil Zeinalov hoped that Ansari's visit would lead to close cooperation between Iran and the Russian Muslim republic.

The meeting was also attended by Daghestan's ministers of health and industries as well as some managers of government organizations.

Meanwhile, during his one-day tour of Daghestan, the Iranian ambassador is scheduled to meet students of the Orientology Faculty of Daghestan State University and Friday prayer leaders of Makhachkala.
