Iranian nation effectively defending its nuclear right - president

(IRNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Wednesday said that the powerful Iranian nation resists bullying powers and will defend its rights, including the right to pursue peaceful nuclear technology.

Addressing a large crowd of local residents of the city of Javanroud in this western province, he said threats, political pressure and negative propaganda cannot prevent the Iranian nation from moving forward in the path to progress, reports Trend.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is now a nuclear power, thanks to the hard work of the Iranian people and authorities, the president added.

Referring to the threat of sanctions that may be imposed on Iran, President Ahmadinejad said that the Iranian nation will not be affected as Iranian young scientists reached the zenith of science and technology and gained access to the nuclear fuel cycle without the help of big powers.

He reiterated that the Iranian nation will continue in its nuclear path powerfully and will celebrate a nuclear victory soon.

Elsewhere in his speech, the president underlined the need for justice to be administered in society.

Speaking of the province's rich potential, he called for efforts to solve its problems, particularly unemployment.

President Ahmadinejad, accompanied by members of his cabinet, arrived in Kermanshah Tuesday for a three-day visit.

He is to preside over a cabinet session in Kermanshah city to discuss the province's problems before he and his cabinet ministers return to Tehran on Thursday.

The president's current visit is his 23rd to various provinces of the country since the start of his initiative of bringing the government closer to the people.
