(Cihan) - "I have to say clearly that the government has no hesitation regarding the privatization policy" said Government Spokesman Cemil Cicek following Monday's cabinet meeting.

In a regular press conference after cabinet meeting, government spokesman Cicek evaluated Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's recent comments on possible postponement of bids for the privatization of power grids.

Cicek assured that the government was determined to carry on with the process and also emphasized that the current government was the most successful so far in the process of privatization, reports Trend.

"Over the last 20 years", said Cicek, "previous governments privatized $ billion while the current government privatized $14 billion during only four years in office.

The spokesman evaluated the Prime Minister's comment on the increase of the prices as a general view on public accusations government had to face in spite of the fact that it was not responsible for the increase.

Cicek said that the privatizations would continue as soon as the infrastructure is completed and that privatization is still on the agenda of the government.

Regarding the date of the privatization bid, which is set for Jan. 19, Cicek said that the date was not definite and that the pre-qualification bids had been handed in.
