(VOA) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is in Germany, where she is expected to discuss efforts to revive the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the war in Iraq.

Rice is meeting with Germany's Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Wednesday after wrapping up a Middle East tour aimed at rallying support for the U.S. security plan for Iraq.

Germany currently holds the presidency of the European Union, which along with the United States, United Nations, and Russia are members of the Mideast Quartet of peacemakers, reports Trend.

Rice announced during her tour that she would hold a three-way meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in coming weeks in an effort to re-start the peace process.

Rice left Kuwait City earlier Wednesday after talks with the emirate's Foreign Minister Mohammad al-Sabah.

Al-Sabah said Kuwait's emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabbah, told Rice on Tuesday that the U.S. should open a dialogue with Syria and Iran in the interests of Iraqi and Gulf stability. The U.S. administration has accused Syria and Iran of promoting violence in Iraq.

On her trip to the Middle East, Secretary Rice visited Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Rice is also scheduled to hold consultations in London before returning to Washington Friday.
