( IRNA ) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday, "We shoulder grave responsibility in forging unity among world Muslim."

According to Press Bureau and Public Relations Department of the Presidential Office, he made the remarks in a meeting with Omani Supreme Mufti Ahmad bin Hamed al-Khalili.

"With such grave responsibilities, are we allowed to let the enemies launch a military campaign to target the heart of the Islamic world and perpetrate massacre while we only stand by as a witness to such scenes?," he asked.

It is possible to counter global arrogance through resistance, he said adding that the current very good relations between Iran and Oman could be regarded as a model for all Islamic countries.

The Omani mufti, for his part, said the Muslims are now a victim of their differences and Iran's strive to forge unity among Muslims sounds quite attractive.

Islamic Ummah should prevent the enemies from interfering in the affairs of Muslim states, he said.
