An exclusive exhibition of Iran's goods opened in Russia's port city of Astrakhan on November 26.

Over 50 Iran's companies from the northern province of Gilan have put their products, including agricultural, dairy, construction, and medical products, as well as handmade carpets and decorative plants, on display, Iran's IRNA news agency reported on November 29.

Concurrently, a conference was held in Astrakhan with the participation of Iranian and Russian traders.

On April 30, Iran's Mazandaran province and Russia's Astrakhan city signed a number of memorandums of understanding in Mazandaran's capital city Sari to boost economic ties.

The two sides vowed to expand cooperation in the field of agriculture, industry and mining, technical and engineering, as well as tourism, Iran's IRNA news agency reported.

They also signed agreements to boost cooperation between public media centers and municipalities.

Astrakhan governor promised to remove bottlenecks through negotiating with senior Russian officials.

Expanding relations between Iran and Russia is a key strategic approach in the region, he said.
