Iran has estimated that the country's dependence on oil revenues will reduce to 30 percent the next Iranian fiscal year (starting March 21).
The country's oil dependency for the current Iranian year is also expected to stand at 31.5 percent, a report by the Ministry of Oil revealed Sept. 30.
The report further shows that the former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad administration has been the most oil-reliant government in Iran.
Accordingly, Iran 's oil dependence stood at 68.3 percent in the first year of the Ahmadinejad administration (2005-2006). The following year it stood at the record-breaking number 69.6, the report further reveals.
The Ahmadinejad administration did not reduce oil dependence any lower than 50 percent, with the six remaining years registering registrations of 61.4, 69, 56.2, 51.8, 50.8, and 50 percent respectively.
However, with Hassan Rouhani as president, Iran 's oil dependence reduced to 43 percent in the Iranian fiscal year that expanded 2013-2014. Last year, the number was reduced by another 3 percent to stand and 40 percent.
Government spokesman and Head of the Management and Planning Organization Mohammad Baqer Nobakht said Sept. 12 that it is estimated that the country's oil revenue for the next Iranian fiscal year will hit $22.7 billion.
