Iran completes conceptual design of 100-150 seat planes

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran has completed the conceptual design of 100-150 seat planes.

Mansour Kabganian, secretary of the headquarters tasked with implementing Iran's comprehensive national plan of scientific progress, said the plan includes a section related to air and aerospace industries which aims to boost hardware and software capacities, designing and manufacturing helicopters, and producing avionic systems, IRNA news agency reported on October 28.

Negotiations have been made with Russia for manufacturing such planes, he noted.

"The headquarters focused on three aspects, including designing and manufacturing small engines, which we have attained its related technology."

Meanwhile, attaining hardware and software knowledge about medium and heavy engines will be materialized by summer 2017 and 2020, respectively, he said.

Regarding medium-sized helicopters, we have been manufacturing samples, while we have reached self-sufficiency in light helicopters, he explained.

"Although there are some certain countries holding technology related to drones, but we have planned to reach preset goals by 2025."
