Iran's Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said that Iran planed to add 47-50 GW to its power generation capacity in ten years, a part of needed investment would be carried out domestically, but about $28 billion investment should be absorbed from foreign companies, IRNA reported on Dec.31.

Currently the country's power generation capacity stands at about 73 GW.

Iranian minister added that the country should have added 5 GW annually to its power generation capacity, but during last years only one third of the projected plans has been realized.
