Russian nuclear power plant builder says it will start construction of a new nuclear power plant in Iran on Sep. 10 based on European Utilities Requirements (EUR) certificate.
According to a message from Russia’s Rosatom State Corporation, the Nuclear Power Production and Development Company of Iran (NPPD) and Atomstroyexport JSC (ASE JSC) signed two contracts last November for construction of power units of Bushehr nuclear power plant on a turnkey basis, as well as for engineering surveys and collection of initial data for Bushehr 2 nuclear power plant.
Total capacity of two power units should be 2,100 megawatts (MW).
ASE JSC is the general contractor for the Bushehr 2 project.
Bushehr 2 will operate using unique technologies and modern solutions as well as the new safety concepts.
According to the report, Russian and Iranian parties will start working under the project on Sept. 10.
Russia built Iran’s first nuclear power plant – Bushehr – and commenced it in 2011 with 1,000 MW of power generation capacity.
