Iran’s incoming ambassador to Azerbaijan Javad Jahangirzadeh and Ardabil Governor General Majid Khodabakhsh in a meeting discussed the prospect of growing the north Iranian province’s relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, Khodabakhsh said that enjoying long shared borders, Ardabil and Azerbaijan “are in possession of great building blocks for closer ties,” IRNA news agency reported September 14.
He pointed out that Bileh Savar border checkpoint has been inaugurated and is going final touches before turning into full operation.
Due fund has also been allocated to procuring vehicles for transporting tourists as well, he noted.
However, he called for further work to streamline preferential tariffs between Iran and Azerbaijan as a prerequisite to growing economic relations.
