Chabahar power plant in southeastern Iran has started receiving condensed natural gas (CNG) as fuel, according to Mahmud Astaneh, advisory to Iran’s oil minister in gas affairs.

The delivery project kicked off by a private operator which has started the job, he told SHANA news agency October 29.

The power plant consists of two gas units with a combined output of 315 megawatts in ISO situations.

Iran is building a special economic zone in Chabahar. The zone will act as a hub for power, industry (most notably steel), and transit. India is investing heavily in the zone in order to beat the Chinese-built Gwadar in the adjacent Pakistan.
