Iran has increased gas delivery to power plants by 11 percent, up to 49.367 billion cubic meters (bcm) during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (March 20-Nov. 21, 2016).

During the period, Iranian power plants received 201.5 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas per day on average, the oil ministry’s SHANA news agency reported Nov. 21.

Iran plans to deliver 65 bcm of gas to power plants in the current fiscal year - about 7 bcm more than in the previous year.

Iran’s power plants consume gas oil and fuel oil as well. However, the country has reduced the supply of liquid fuels to power plants as it plans to replace them with natural gas.

The National Iranian Gas Company supplied 43.389 bcm of gas to small industries and householders, while 23.814 bcm of gas was delivered to big industries in the 8-month period.
