Iranian mineral industry exports up by 34%

Exports of Iran’s mineral industry products increased by 34 percent during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (March 20-Nov. 21, 2016), the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said.

Iran exported $4.4 billion worth of mineral industry products in the eight-month period as compared to the same period of the preceding year.

The main exported goods were steel (4.3 million tons), copper (561,000 tons) and iron ore, IMIDRO said.

The Islamic Republic exported $1.8 billion worth of steel products, while the figure for copper and iron ore was $536 million and $451 million, respectively, in the eight-month period.

Iran also exported $141 million worth of zinc (19 percent more year-on-year), $336 million worth of cement (a decrease by 21 percent) and $203 million worth of decorative stones (a 72-percent increase).

Mines and mining industry of the Islamic Republic exported $7.05 billion worth of goods and services over the last Iranian fiscal year.
