Iran industrially producing nano-silica

Iran has started the industrial production of nano-silica, becoming the fifth country to produce the substance following the US, Germany, Spain, and China.

The production line which has just been launched can produce 150 to 200 thousand tons of the product each year, according to Hossein Eftekhari, CEO of Fadak Science Based Company, IRIB news agency reported December 31.
The production unit was staged with an investment of 9 billion rials (close to $280,000), Eftekhari said.

He noted the substance has applications in producing paint, nano-composits, plastics, cement, and agricultural substances.

According to Eftekhari, the factory will save Iran 40 billion rials ($1.2 million) a year.
