Iran says after three years of operating the South Pars field’s phases 17 and 18 at half capacity, a third of invested funds have been returned.
Iran invested $8.1 billion in the mentioned phases, which became semi-operational in 2014, SHANA quoted Hassan Bouyeri, director of South Pars phases 17 and 18, as saying Mar. 6.
He added that since January 2014, Iran has produced 15.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, 15 million barrels of gas condensate and 400,000 tons of sulfur from these phases.
Bouyeri said the phases 17 and 18 will become fully operational soon. The final annual capacity of these phases is 18.2 bcm of natural gas and 29 million barrels of gas condensate.
Iranian side of South Pars, jointly owned with Qatar, contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
Iran has divided the field into 24 phases. Currently, the field’s nominal production capacity stands at 500 mcm/d, but Iran plans to increase this volume to 800 mcm/d by 2021.
