Iran, Japan sign MoU on ¥800M customs upgrade

Iran and Japan have signed a memorandum of understanding over upgrading Iran’s customs facilities worth 800 million yens.

According to the agreement, Japan will help equip Iran with X-ray machines for cargo check at customs facilities, Mehr news agency reported March 8.

If equipped with the X-ray facilities, the Iranian Customs Administration will better combat drugs smuggling. During the previous Iranian fiscal year (which ended March 20), Iran’s customs discovered 290 tons of narcotics and precursors.
