Iran’s steel output up 8% in 11 months

Steel production in Iran increased eight percent during the first 11 months of last fiscal year (which ended March 20).

The product of this period amounted to 16.462 million tons of raw steel, the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade’s records show, Trend correspondent reported from Tehran April 9.

Iranian plans to become the world’s sixth largest steel producer by 2025 by boosting output capacity to 55 million tons/year.

By the end of 2015, steel production in Iran stood at 16.1 million tons, placing the country 14th among steel-producing countries, according to World Steel Association.
