No specific Iranian project on agenda between OMV, Gazprom Neft

The deal signed between Russian Gazprom Neft and Austrian OMV June 2 is not on a specific Iranian project, Robert Lechner spokesman of OMV told Trend.

The sides signed a memorandum of understanding to work together to develop Iran’s two blocks.

Both Gazprom Neft and OMV already have MoUs with Iran to study oil fields.

Gazprom Neft is studying Cheshmeh Khosh and Changouleh oil fields with 6 billion in-situ oil reserves together, while OMV is studying Cheshmeh Khosh as well as Zagros block and Parsi field.

Speaking on the result of the studies, LEchner said that “there is no news to report at this stage. Activities are ongoing”.

OMV released a report June 2 saying that, the document signed with Gazprom Neft describes the mutual interest projects in the oil and gas industry and the agreement, outlines the general interest of both companies to work together in the territory of Iran to develop of two blocks in Iran.

“Preliminary possible spheres of cooperation include analysis, assessment and study of certain oil deposits located in the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran in cooperation with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).”
