The amount of Iranian government’s outstanding debt to Khatam al Anbiya Construction Base, the engineering arm of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), amounts to $6.25 billion, an IRGC official said.

Brigadier General Ramazan Sharif, the head of public relations office at the IRGC, has said that the Guards have been involved in the most of construction projects during President Hassan Rouhani’s government and the administration’s outstanding debt to the IRGC totals 200 trilion rials (about $6.25 billion), Tasnim news agency reported.

According to the official, the construction base has already hired about 5,000 university graduates.

The Persian Gulf Star refinery that was inaugurated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in late April was among the major projects launched by the construction base.

Following the inauguration of the plant, Iran said it was self-sufficient in petroleum production.
