Iran imports 26,000 cars in 4 months

Iran imported about 26 thousand cars in the first four months of the current fiscal year (since March 21), according to reports published by the Iranian Customs Administration August 6.

The 26,666 sedans imported during this time were worth $752,689,053, the report said.

Adding the value of imported parts, a total of $140 billion worth of cars and parts were imported during the mentioned period.

The majority of the cars were brought to Iran via the United Arab Emirates.

1,343 of the cars, worth $74.5 million, were imported from Germany, while 355 cars, worth $5 million, were imported from France.

Iran became the world’s 18th biggest car manufacturer, International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers’ (OICA) latest statistics indicate.

According to OICA, Iran manufactured 1,164,710 cars during 2016, which indicate a 18.6 percent growth, compared to 2015.

The Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said July 25 that Iran manufactured 420,000 cars during the first four months of current Iranian fiscal year (Started on March 21), which indicate 20 percent growth.
