Iran’s drilling operations decrease by 10%

The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) drilled over 142.5 kilometers of oil and gas wells using its drilling fleet during the first half of Iran’s current fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 22), Hamid Reza Khoshayand, deputy managing director of NIDC, said.

The figure indicates a fall by 10.4 percent compared to 159 kilometres ‎of oil and gas wells drilled by the company during the same period of last fiscal year.

The company carried out drilling of 76 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells during the period, Khoshayand said, NIDC reported.

The wells included 32 delineation wells two exploratory and 42 repairing ones, he added.

Meanwhile NIDC drilled 98 wells in the 6-month period of preceding year.

The National Iranian South Oil Fields Company (NISOC) shared 57 of the drilled wells, followed by Iranian Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (12 wells), Iranian Offshore Oil Company (five well) and Exploration Directorate of National Iranian Oil Company(two wells), he said.

The NIDC owns 73 light, heavy and ultra-heavy drilling rigs of them 70 rigs are onshore, the official added.

The company carried out drilling of 193 offshore and onshore oil and gas wells (293 kilometers) during the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017).
