Iran unveils South Pars gas field’s performance

Iran's South Pars gas field produced 75 billion cubic meters of sweet gas in the first 7 months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-Oct. 22), Abdolrahman Salehi, a senior official with South Pars Gas Company (SPGC), said.‎

Iran extracted 94 billion cubic meters of gas from the field in the 7-month period, Salehi said, the press office of the SPGC reported Nov. 8.

The official added that in the said time span, more than 114 million barrels of gas condensate were produced at the complex.

Over 290,000 tons of sulfur, 1.336 million tons of LPG (propane and butane), and 1.303 million tons of ethane were also produced in South Pars Gas Complex in the period, he said.

South Pars gas field with 14 trillion cubic meters of reserves on the Iranian side is jointly owned with Qatar.

Iran divided its side of the field into 24 phases and the field's final output capacity is expected to be above 800 mcm/d after launching all phases.

The field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are in Qatar's territorial waters.
