Iran to insure workers of online businesses

Social Security Organization of Iran has pledged to insure the workers of startup companies.

The deputy head of the Social Security Organization of Iran, Mohammad Hasan-Zeda, has said that the workers of 11 startup companies including online taxi services will receive insurance, ISNA news agency reported.

He further called on the startup companies to cooperate with his organization in order to find a proper solution for insuring the people working online.

The amount of earned premiums by the Iranian insurance industry indicated a surge of 22.6 percent over the last fiscal year (starting March 20).

According to the latest report by the industry regulator, the amount of total premiums collected by Iranian insurance companies over the last fiscal year reached $8.9 billion (280.1 trillion rials).

In this period, Iran ranked 42nd in the world regarding the amount of earned premiums.

While the insurance penetration rate was 2.2 percent, the per capital premium over the last year stood at $112 (3,500,000 rials).
