The trading volume at Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) experienced a growth by 44 percent in terms of volume during the week to Jan. 11 and amounted to 640,724 tons.
The value of traded commodities accounted to 11,147 billion rials (some $305.7 million based on official rate of 36,469 rials per each USD) during the same span of the time, 6 percent more on a weekly basis, based on date released by official website of the IME.
During the preceding week (ended Jan. 4) over 443,673 tons of various goods, worth 10,524 billion rials were traded at IME.
The IME traded the following products and goods in the week to Jan. 11:
Industrial and minerals trading floor: traded over 258,862 tons of various products, worth 4,532 billion rials including 200 tons of aluminium, 153,299 tons of steel products, 110,000 tons of iron ore, 5,185 tons of copper, 160 tons of molybdenum concentrates, 18 tons of precious metal concentrates as well as 10 kilograms of gold bullion.
Oil and petrochemical trading floor (Domestic and Export): traded over 260,524 tons of various products, worth 5,266 billion rials including 71,300 tons of bitumen, 56,442 tons of polymer products, 67,000 tons of vacuum bottom feed stock as well as 21,000 tons of lube cut oil, 21,802 tons of chemicals, 22,000 tons of sulphur, 500 tons of insulation, 460 tons of heavy paraffin wax and 20 tons of argon gas.
Agriculture floor: traded over 110,767 tons of various products, worth 1,325 billion rials including 126,000 day-old chickens, 63,950 tons of wheat, 50 tons of sugar, 12,900 tons of crude vegetable oil and 33,741 tons of corn.
Furthermore, the customers traded 100 tons of phosphate concentrates and 470 tons of polyester threads on the side market of IME.
The IME was founded in 2007. It trades in agricultural, industrial and petrochemical products in spot and futures markets. There are 70 listed brokerage companies in IME who are members of the exchange licensed by the market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Organization.
