Iran Central Bank reports on equity market’s 8-month performance

Main index of the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) surged by 12 percent over the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20) compared to the same period of last year.

According to the latest statistics released by the Central Bank of Iran, main index reached 88775 points in the eight-month period ending Dec. 21.

In the meantime, compared to the preceding month the main index added 2.7 percent.

TSE financial index declined 15.3 percent to rest at 129859 in the mentioned period.

TSE industrial index hiked 16.9 percent to stand at 77724, top 50 performers index increased by 16.4 percent posting 3618, first market index rose by 11.3 percent reaching 62476, and second market index increased by 13.3 percent resting at 192130.

The number of the traded shares slumped 17.1 percent as 136.3 billion shares changed hands in the mentioned period.

Market capitalization saw a 6.8 percent increase reaching 3.5 quadrillion rials (about $98.4 billion on the official rate).
