Transport of metal products via Iran's ports rise significantly

The Islamic Republic of Iran exported 646,756 tons of metal products through its ports across the country over the last Iranian calendar month ending Jan. 20, which indicates a 117.6 percent rise compared to the preceding month.

The country loaded and unloaded 874,377 tons of metal products at its ports in the one-month period, indicating a 36.1 percent increase year-on-year, according to the latest report released by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.

In the meantime, the country imported 227,621 tons of metal products through the organization’s ports.

The organization loaded and unloaded 2.3 million tons of minerals and construction materials in the one-month period, which is 25.4 percent less than the volume in the same month of the preceding year.

About 2.215 million tons of minerals and construction materials were exported through the country’s ports compared to 657,801 tons in the preceding month.

The report also says that 46,680 tons of machinery, vehicles and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports, 5.8 percent less year-on-year.

Iran’s machinery, vehicles and spare parts imports via the ports accounted to 43,069 tons in one-month period.

Iranian ports saw loading and unloading of a total of 12.71 million tons of various goods and commodities, including food and metal products between Dec. 21, 2017 to Jan. 20, 2.3 percent less year-on-year.

In total, over 129 million tons of various goods were loaded/unloaded at Iranian ports during the current fiscal year.

The volume is 4.9 percent more than the loaded/unloaded products in the same period of preceding year (started March 20, 2016).
